Bar Style Wooden Oval Handles These wooden handles are moulded to the precise oval shape (1.00 in. x 1.25 in.) to fit in the swing bar style hinged handle hardware common on many caskets. This dowel bar can also be used to fit handmade wood brackets with wheel bolts for a stationary handle set. Sold in three lengths to accommodate most swing bar handle configurations. Use two long and two medium handles for one complete casket. A typical casket handle on the long side is 63-68 inches in length. A typical short handle ranges from 10 to 16 inches. For individual "EAR" style handles, the length is 9-11 inches. Dowels are available in pine, oak, and walnut. Installation & Fasteners (not included) These hinged swing bar arms attach to the sidewall of the casket. Each swing bar arm has three holes. We recommend using the center hole for positioning with one machine screw, washer & nut through the casket wall. This allows you to precisely measure and pre-drill those holes and position the handle neatly. Rarely Seen on Caskets Since 1940 This is truly a vintage Art Deco style casket handle bracket. This steel arm and adapter style casket handle is common on wood caskets. This type of arm hinges on a patented 3-hole pattern that is connected to an Art Deco single arm adapter, or lug. The adapter is secured to the outside of a wood casket with two screws. The arm is wrapped around an oval dowel handle made from wood or steel oval bar stock. This arm is available in two sizes including a 1x1-1/4 oval and a 1x1-3/8 oval. Both are compatible with our wooden oval dowel handles, with the smaller of the two making for a nice tight fit with our 1x1-1/4 oval wooden dowels. The 1x1-3/8 arm and adapter is a little easier to fit--especially if you are making your own oval dowel handles with a 1-inch bullnose bit, then order the 1x1-3/8 size.  If you are fitting with our oval steel bar stock, use the 1x1-1/4 size.
