The cross is a principal symbol for many groups of Christians. This decorative cross is made and finished to appear like carved wood. Each cross has 2 small holes for securing in place with a pair of #4 wood screws.

Casket corners such as these were common on American caskets built in the 1920s through the 1950s. Consolidation, off-shore production, and cost-cutting measures from the 1960s to present day have resulted in the loss of many of these decorative metal corners.
We ventured to northwest neighborhoods of Old Chicago just off West Fullerton Avenue--an historical area home to dozens of legacy machine shops, as well as furniture and clothing manufacturers. We found the original location where these parts were stamped from American steel on equipment that has been operating since the 1920s.
This casket corner is the real deal. An American original. True vintage.
