Secure the casket lid in the open position
Top supports secure the casket lid in the open position and prevents the lid from opening too far. Use a pair of top supports for each casket--one top support at the head end, and one at the foot end on both full and half-couch models.
A complete top support assembly includes one support arm and two mounting brackets--one bracket on each end of the arm. Mounts secure to the arm with a special screw that allows the arm to pivot on the bracket. The mounting brackets come in two styles: flush mount and side mount. We've put together a universal top support kit as a convenience to our customers. This kit will fit any casket lid design configuration you choose.
Top Support Universal Kit Package Contents
- Top Support Arm (2)
- Side Mount Bracket (4)
- Flush Mount Bracket (2)
- Bracket Pivot Screw (4)
If ordering the individual parts, be sure to order two mounts for each arm.
Installation Notes
To mount the bracket, measure precisely 6 inches into the casket box from the hinge pivot point and 6 inches into the lid from the same hinge pivot point. The top support center pivot point (i.e. the knee) should fold toward you as you close the lid. Once closed, the folded top support should be roughly level with the inside top edge of the casket box. If the two pivot points are not in the same vertical line (with lid closed) then the knee joint of the top support will push up into your casket lid, or push down into the casket upholstery. To adjust the casket lid open position to about 90 degrees, adjust the mounting point of the top support inside the casket box up or down the same vertical line about 6 inches from the casket lid hinge point.

On time. Every Time.
I have always been appreciative of the level of support and service we have received from CBS. The team is very responsive, our orders are correct, and shipped immediately. We would not be where we are today without the support and assistance from the team at CBS.
Just buy it
Seems well made but guys can you do me a favor? I realize you were trying to be nice but can you not put chocolate candy in my order mid summer? Had to clean melted tootsie roll off my hinges...
Oh no! The tootsie rolls melted. Noted! Thank you.
Hardware
No directions. Haven't got to the point of installation so can't rate it yet but would be nice to have directions
Hi Jim, we have some installation notes on the web site listing for top supports. Here you go!
