These industry standard casket latches are quality stamped steel. Latches come in two styles; for the Stud Style, a stud or pin, is mounted on the edge of the casket lid.  For the Tab Style, a plate with a tab is mounted on the edge of the casket lid. Additionally, both styles are offered in either left or right opening configurations. For left hand style, the lever clasp points to the left and pivots on the right. For the right hand style, the clasp points to the right and pivots on the left. Many casket builders use the left hand style exclusively on both sides of all caskets. Available in both left hand and right hand kits (sold by each) that include screws. The four pieces for the assembly are packaged separately. Latches are also available in bulk packs of 100. Bulk packs DO NOT include #6 screws. Setup your template or stops for a 2 inch width. To avoid tear-out, take off very very little (about 1/16) with your first pass working from left to right. Take only about 1/8 to 3/16 more material per pass and complete the mortise in 4-6 passes. If you are too aggressive--especially on the first pass--it may result in tear-out on the right edge of the mortise.

Secure the casket lid in the open position Top supports secure the casket lid in the open position and prevents the lid from opening too far. Use a pair of top supports for each casket--one top support at the head end, and one at the foot end on both full and half-couch models. A complete top support assembly includes one support arm and two mounting brackets--one bracket on each end of the arm. Mounts secure to the arm with a special screw that allows the arm to pivot on the bracket. The mounting brackets come in two styles: flush mount and side mount. We've put together a universal top support kit as a convenience to our customers. This kit will fit any casket lid design configuration you choose. Top Support Universal Kit Package Contents Top Support Arm (2) Side Mount Bracket (4) Flush Mount Bracket (2)  Bracket Pivot Screw (4) If ordering the individual parts, be sure to order two mounts for each arm. Installation Notes To mount the bracket, measure precisely 6 inches into the casket box from the hinge pivot point and 6 inches into the lid from the same hinge pivot point. The top support center pivot point (i.e. the knee) should fold toward you as you close the lid. Once closed, the folded top support should be roughly level with the inside top edge of the casket box. If the two pivot points are not in the same vertical line (with lid closed) then the knee joint of the top support will push up into your casket lid, or push down into the casket upholstery.  To adjust the casket lid open position to about 90 degrees, adjust the mounting point of the top support inside the casket box up or down the same vertical line about 6 inches from the casket lid hinge point. Specifications Length: 9 1/2 inches Offset: 3/16 inches Origin: Made in the USA

Casket Hinges, Separable Hinges for Lids Separable hinges are commonly used on caskets for easy removal of the casket lid during finishing and upholstery after woodworking is completed. At a minimum, use four hinges per casket for a standard half couch (two piece lid) or full couch (one piece lid). Some craftsmen use six hinges for added security and for hardwood caskets. Hinges sold by each and include black #6 by 3/4 inch screws. Hinges sold in bulk (pack of 100) DO NOT include screws.  Installation Tips for Casket Hinges... Edge vs. Flat Mount Styles There are two styles of hinge escutcheon or base:  edge mount style and flat mount style. An edge mount means the hinge escutcheon--the part that attaches to the casket box--is designed to fit over the edge of a standard 3/4-inch thick piece of board wood. If the top edge of your casket box wall is thicker, then you need the flat mount style of hinge. What's Included Hinge escutcheon/base (1) Hinge stud (1) Order 4-6 Hinges for EACH Casket Bulk Pack of 100 We offer wholesale pricing on bulk packs of 100 or more that include hinge base and stud. At 4 hinges per casket, this is enough hinges for 25 caskets. Screws not included in bulk packs.
